Welcome to the Senate Office

The Senate Office provides a service to students and staff across the University.

The work of the Senate Office is focused on academic quality assurance in its broadest sense and is therefore intimately involved in the work of the Senate.

It provides the administrative support for the Senate's Committees and for the Senate's statutory responsibilities (especially student appeals, complaints and discipline). It also supports Faculties and academic departments in ensuring that the University's educational provision for students is of high quality (SHEFC Quality Assessments 1992-98 or QAA Scottish Academic Review reports 2000-02).

The Office is in addition responsible for certain ceremonials (such as ceremonies for the conferment of Honorary Degrees) in the University.
